Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Joyride is built to keep your data yours. The app records and processes your rides entirely on your device. Joyride has no account or login, and we operate no servers that receive your information — we do not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software. The only time your ride data leaves your device is when you personally choose to upload a ride to Strava.
This policy covers the Joyride app on iPhone and Apple Watch.
Information Joyride Accesses on Your Device
To record and show your rides, Joyride asks your permission to use the following. Each is used only for the feature described, is processed on your device, and is not sent to us.
- Location (GPS). While you are recording a ride — including in the background when your screen is off — Joyride uses precise location to map your route and calculate speed, distance, and elevation.
- Health & Fitness (Apple Health / HealthKit). With your permission, Joyride reads your workout history (to show past rides), your body weight (to estimate calories burned), and your heart rate (to show cycling metrics). It writes your completed cycling workouts, route, and heart rate back to Apple Health so your rides appear alongside your other activity. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never shared with anyone without your explicit action (see Strava, below).
- Motion & Fitness. Joyride uses your device's motion sensors to improve the accuracy of ride and activity tracking.
- Maps. Joyride uses Apple Maps (MapKit) to display a map of your GPS track and any pre-planned route. Showing the map requires fetching map tiles from Apple; those requests are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. Joyride makes no other network requests to display your rides.
Strava (Optional)
Joyride lets you connect a Strava account so you can upload your rides there. This is entirely optional and off by default. If you connect Strava:
- You sign in through Strava's own authorization screen. Joyride never sees your Strava password; it receives access tokens, which are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. We store your Strava display name only to show which account is connected.
- When you upload a ride, Joyride sends that ride's data — including its GPS route, ride statistics, and heart-rate data — to Strava.
- Once a ride is on Strava, it is governed by Strava's Privacy Policy and your Strava settings, which are outside Joyride's control.
- You can disconnect Strava at any time in Joyride's settings, which removes the stored tokens from your device.
Subscriptions & Purchases
Joyride offers an optional paid subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; Joyride does not receive your payment details. Apple handles this information under Apple's Privacy Policy.
Where Your Data Lives & How Long
Your rides are stored on your device, and (if you allow it) in Apple Health. Strava access tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to retain. Your data stays until you remove it:
- Delete individual rides within Joyride.
- Manage or delete data written to Apple Health in the Apple Health app.
- Disconnect Strava in Joyride's settings to remove stored tokens.
- Delete the Joyride app to remove its on-device data.
What We Share
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. Joyride includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only sharing that occurs is the Strava upload you explicitly initiate.
Your Choices & Controls
You are in control of every permission. You can grant or revoke Location, Health, and Motion access at any time in the iOS Settings app, and connect or disconnect Strava within Joyride. Revoking a permission may disable the related feature.
Children's Privacy
Joyride is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note them within the app or on this page.
